May Update

Today, we are announcing the cancellation of July volunteer trips.

Although there are signs that more normal times are slowly returning to Pine Ridge (including the scheduling of the annual Oglala Nation Wacipi [Powwow] and Rodeo), the moment has still not arrived for us to resume our volunteer program.

We are continually assessing health guidelines and recommendations, and are anxious to welcome you back to Re-Member when it is appropriate for us to do so. The safety of our volunteers, and the peace of mind and good health of Pine Ridge residents remains our top priority.

A determination on August and September trip status will be made by June 1.

We are so very grateful for your continued and generous support from afar. Below, are several opportunities for you to continue generously supporting Re-Member’s work, as our staff provides services in your absence.

Help Us Grow Our Gardens on “Growing Tuesday”

You’re probably familiar with “Giving Tuesday” when we raise funds for our winter heating assistance program. This spring, we are launching a new program: “Growing Tuesday!”

Please join us on Growing Tuesday to help grow our community gardens with your generosity. 100% of contributions received on Growing Tuesday – May 4 – will be allocated to our garden project at Feather II.

Your support will ensure a successful gardening season, and allow us to complete several important projects at Feather II, including the planting of our gardens, the installation of drip irrigation in our hoop houses, construction of a pump house and storage shed, and the planting of a pumpkin patch and corn maze for local school children to visit in the fall.

You can be an early supporter with your gift today.

Take a Trot

Join fellow supporters and volunteers from across the United States and around the world for a “Turtle Trot” 5K, 10K, half-marathon, marathon (or any run/walk of your choosing) in support of Re-Member and the Oglala Lakota people of Pine Ridge.

Your $35 registration fee includes a branded Re-Member tank top that will be mailed to you, and a $10 charitable contribution receipt for tax purposes.
