June Update
Last week, the Oglala Sioux Tribe released guidelines for volunteer organizations to resume operations on Pine Ridge. As we work to implement these protocols, we are announcing today that all existing August and September trips will be cancelled. Once our procedures have been submitted and approved by the tribe, we will communicate availability and processes that must be followed to request a trip for the remainder of 2021.
Among the key requirements for volunteers are: proof of full vaccination, masking while in public and when in the presence of residents of the Pine Ridge Reservation, and daily health monitoring.
Re-Member will submit a safety plan to the tribe for review and approval, which will guide our resumption of volunteer programming.
Since shuttering our volunteer program last March, we have continually assessed health guidelines and recommendations. Re-Member has been part of the Pine Ridge community for more than twenty years without interruption. Our native and non-native staff call Pine Ridge home. We work here and live here. The safety of our volunteers, and the peace of mind and good health of Pine Ridge residents remains our top priority.
We are so very grateful for your continued and generous support from afar. Below, are several opportunities for you to continue generously supporting Re-Member’s work, as our staff continues to provides services.
