April Update
Today, we are announcing the cancellation of June volunteer trips.
Tribal restrictions remain in place, including border monitoring efforts to keep non-residents from entering the reservation. COVID-19 vaccines are widely available here on Pine Ridge, and cases remain low across the reservation. The tribe continues to adjust to local conditions, and we remain hopeful that we will be able to safely resume our program later this summer.
Since the beginning of this pandemic, it has been our policy to embrace and fully support the tribe’s efforts. That remains true today. As we first said last March: The safety of our volunteers, and the peace of mind and good health of Pine Ridge residents is our top priority.
A determination on July trip status will be made by May 1.

Save the Date: “Growing Tuesday”
This year’s garden program is already underway, with the first seed starts now growing (inside) at Feather II. Your support on “Growing Tuesday,” May 4 will ensure a successful gardening season, and allow us to complete several important projects at our gardens, including the installation of drip irrigation in our hoop houses, and the planting of a pumpkin patch and corn maze for local school children to visit in the fall.
On behalf of the Oglala Lakota community we serve, thank you for your continued support.
