June Update

We are now two full months into our resumed volunteer program and are thrilled to have welcomed hundreds of volunteers from across the United States and around the world safely back to Pine Ridge. Since resuming our program, we have completed dozens of work projects, and are very close to planting our full gardens at “Feather II” for the growing season ahead.

As the saying goes, many hands make light work, and that is exemplified by the number of jobs we have completed to date, including:

  • 43 beds built and delivered

  • 17 outhouses installed

  • 13 sets of deck/steps built

  • 7 wheelchair ramps constructed

  • 2 skirt jobs completed

This beneficial work comes amidst record prices for commodities. Food, fuel, and lumber prices are double, triple, or even more compared to our pre-COVID costs. Your donations continue to make our work possible as we offer a hand up, not just a handout, to the Oglala Lakota people who request our assistance.

We still have space for you to volunteer this summer!

We believe that in addition to providing direct, tangible support to the Oglala Lakota people, the strongest way to promote positive exchange in one of the poorest areas of the United States is to build relationships. Through relationship building, our volunteers become advocates to stand in solidarity with the Oglala Lakota people.
