November Update
Seasons change quickly here. Just a few weeks ago, we were still building steps and ramps, and harvesting produce from the Feather II gardens. All of that ended abruptly as temperatures plummeted, and snow began to fly. Overnight lows have dipped into the teens for several days now.
We have quickly transitioned into our winter heating season, providing much-needed firewood to families across the reservation. In just the first week of the program, we have more than 70 requests that have been called in. Over the coming months, we will cut, split, and deliver hundreds of loads of wood. In December, we begin assisting with propane and electric accounts.
Just after Devorah hung up her gardening gloves, she put on her Santa hat. For the next 45 days, Feather II becomes a North Pole workshop, as she sorts hundreds of gifts collected throughout the year, and prepares them for distribution.
We are humbled and grateful for the support of everyone who makes these winter projects possible. With the holiday season quickly approaching, we invite you to consider the many ways you can support Re-Member’s important work.

Alternative Gift Giving Options
We encourage you to consider our alternative gift giving options this holiday season. Make a contribution to Re-Member in honor of a friend or loved one, and Re-Member will send a personalized card to the recipient, acknowledging your gift.
You can also shop Re-Member’s online store for beautiful handcrafted items from many Oglala Lakota artisans. Your purchase directly supports the artists of Pine Ridge, and Re-Member’s work across the reservation. Shop early to avoid any potential shipping delays as the holidays approach!
2024 Season Information
A trip to Re-Member provides volunteers with a unique and engaging service-learning experience. Over the course of the week, volunteers are provided the opportunity to visit locations of significance around the reservation, engage with local artisans and cultural presenters, attend local events such as pow-wows, and work on various construction projects.
It is our belief that standing with the Lakota people and building relationships within the community is as important as the work we do to functionally improve quality of life. As such, lessons on Lakota spirituality, culture and history – as told by the Lakota people themselves – are important pillars of the Re-Member experience.
Please visit our website to learn more about our 2024 trips, including dates for our special program weeks, and a real-time availability calendar.
On behalf of the Oglala Lakota community we serve, thank you for your continued support.
